INTUNE with Tina Michael: the founder of Shoreditch Nails and all round colour enthusiast!
How did Shoreditch Nails come about?
10 years ago I decided I wanted to launch my own business. I took a part-time manicure and pedicure course, quit my job and started a career as a nail technician. To be honest I never planned for the business to grow in the way it has, all I was focused on was having a job which was fun, rewarding and owning a business that I could be proud of. In 2017 we launched our first studio in Shoreditch and since then we have been expanding our brand.
What has been your proudest moment since opening?
There are so many, more recently we launched our new polish shades at our Dalston studio. I wanted it to be so busy we would have queue down Dalston Lane, and it happened! I couldn’t believe it, people turned up to be part of an event and product that we created.
What advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?
To have more boundaries and take care of myself, not always putting my business first.
Colour is obviously an integral part of Shoreditch Nails, what does colour mean to you?
Colour is everything! It can lift your mood, evoke memories and you can have so much fun and be creative with it.
What inspires you most?
I have friends who run amazing businesses, they inspired me everyday with how hard working they are. Our community of clients and my team inspire me, they are extremely creative.
